Built by Makers, For Makers

Brooklyn Craft Central wasn't born in a boardroom. It started in 2014 when three local artisans — Elena, Marcus, and Sarah — kept running into the same problem: amazing handmade goods with no platform to reach the people who'd truly appreciate them. So they did what makers do: they built a solution.

What began as a small weekend gathering in a Brooklyn park has grown into a thriving community hub. But our core mission hasn't changed: to create space where craftsmanship is celebrated, connections are genuine, and every purchase tells a story.

"We don't just host markets. We cultivate a community where creativity thrives and every artisan feels seen, supported, and valued."

Today, we're proud to support over 340 local vendors, host 150+ community events annually, and maintain a 98% vendor retention rate — not through aggressive tactics, but through authentic relationships and shared values. We believe business can be both profitable and purposeful.

Our team remains small by design. When you interact with Brooklyn Craft Central, you're connecting with real people who care deeply about what we do. Sarah manages vendor relations because she remembers what it felt like to be a new artisan looking for opportunity. Marcus leads our printing services because he believes quality craftsmanship deserves quality presentation. Elena cultivates partnerships because she knows collaboration strengthens everyone.

We're not perfect. We're learning, adapting, and growing alongside our community. And that's exactly how we want it. Because at the end of the day, Brooklyn Craft Central isn't about us — it's about the incredible makers, visitors, and neighbors who make this community special.

Questions About Our Story

Curious about how we operate, our values, or what makes us different? Here are answers to questions we hear often.

We're artisan-founded and community-driven. Unlike markets that prioritize vendor fees or foot traffic alone, we focus on long-term relationships, fair practices, and creating a welcoming experience for both makers and visitors. Every decision starts with: "Does this serve our community?"
We review every application personally. We look for quality craftsmanship, originality, and alignment with our values (sustainability, ethical production, community focus). We also strive for a diverse mix of products so visitors discover something new every time. Rejection isn't about quality alone — sometimes it's about curating the right balance for a specific event.
We're a for-profit social enterprise. This structure allows us to be sustainable and scale our impact while staying true to our mission. We reinvest profits into community programs, vendor support resources, and eco-friendly event improvements. Our success is measured in community impact, not just revenue.
We offer business workshops, marketing support, peer mentorship connections, and access to our printing services at preferred rates. We also advocate for local makers through media partnerships and community storytelling. Our goal is to help artisans build sustainable businesses, not just make a single sale.
We prioritize reusable or compostable materials for all event infrastructure, partner with vendors who share our environmental values, and offset our carbon footprint through local reforestation projects. We also educate our community through workshops on sustainable crafting practices. It's an ongoing journey, and we're always looking for better ways to reduce our impact.
Our administrative office is near Brooklyn Bridge Park at Pier 6, Brooklyn, NY 11201. While our team is often out at markets or community events, we welcome visitors by appointment. Email [email protected] to schedule a time — we'd love to share a coffee and hear your story too.
There are so many ways! Shop from our vendors, volunteer at events, share our story on social media, or partner with us if you're a local business. If you're a maker, apply to vend. If you're passionate about craft, join our newsletter for behind-the-scenes updates. Every connection strengthens our community.
